I remember catching the bats and their bellies were warm

2025

Mixed media, gouache on canvas, pencil on paper, gouache on paper

The work visualizes the confusion and fragmentation of memories and experiences. They intertwine, fade, appear in transparent and fragile pieces, almost like paper. The author reflects on his own growing up, on personal moments of human tenderness and vulnerability, which are closely connected to the nature around. Are we already coming to this world with hearts full of bliss and love, or is it something to learn and develop in one’s soul? Childhood gets forgotten and takes on dream-like, enchanting surreal forms, but remains the basis of our formation and even the “cross” we bear. The first life lessons.
